Brewster is a 6 year old pup in need of a stifle brace to help him heal and gain movement from a torn ACL.
Brewster was rescued in 2018 as a puppy in St. Louis, MO. He was emaciated, heartworm positive and had many other health issues. He was named Brewster because he was found near a brewery in St. Louis.
Due to unfortunate health issues, life changed for Brewster and his mom, including a terrible dog attack that injured both Brewster and his mama.
“I did what most people tell you never to do, I protected Brewster. Once freed, I rushed Brewster to the pet hospital and they took care of him. When we returned home, I saw the damage the dog had done to me. I was unable to receive medical care, so I did it myself. Brewster has been very protective of me ever since and I of him. He is so loving and sweet. We are inseparable!”
The Izzie Fund is honored to be there for Brewster and his mom! We can’t wait to share his progress with you. This sweet boy has not had an easy life, but with a new year comes new hope!
PUPDATES:
At first, Brewster and his mama had a few challenges—Brewster tried to show that he wasn’t too keen on wearing his new brace. With patience, love and consistency, the pair established a routine that works for both of them. As soon as Brewster sees his mama starting to powder the brace, he jumps up on the lounge chair and extends his leg for her to put on the brace. His mama says “he’s such a smart and cooperative boy!”
Not only is Brewster adjusting, he also seems to be pain free! He happily walks around the house and helps his mama with a few tasks. He picks up things that fall on the floor, brought his mama’s slippers, and even grabbed a paper towel from the table and delivered it proudly! Brewster loves his treats and is rewarded for all his helpful actions.
Brewster’s mama is so grateful for Brewster’s companionship and the support they’ve received. “Rescuing him was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, and I promised him he’d be my “furever” baby. When life throws challenges our way, having such a great gift to help my dog is a true blessing.”

Ever wonder what The Izzie Fund does? This. Is. It! We provide hope to those in need. We keep families together. We keep dogs out of shelters. WE SAVE LIVES.
