Meet Edgar Allen Bo

Deaf since birth and once abused for “not listening,” Edgar Allan Bo was rescued by a foster who taught him sign language and waited months for someone willing to love a deaf dog. Adopted in 2018, his new family already knew ASL and instantly knew he was meant to be theirs.

Named after Edgar Allan Poe for his mysterious, soulful nature, Bo quickly became a local favorite — even winning a Halloween Pet Parade by performing tricks in sign language. He “talks” through expressive husky-like sounds, gentle taps for attention, and endless affection.

Now 8 years old, Bo is facing hip dysplasia and a painful leg condition that keeps him from running and playing with his sister, Rosie. His veterinarian believes surgery can restore his mobility and quality of life.

Edgar Allan Bo is not just a dog — he’s a reminder that every life has value, no matter the challenges. He has learned to speak through sign language and his heart. Now he needs help to run again.

Ever wonder what The Izzie Fund does? This. Is. It! We provide hope to those in need.  We keep families together. We keep dogs out of shelters. WE SAVE LIVES.

Will you lend a paw and help an animal in need?
