Meet Hawkeye

Hawkeye is one of those dogs whose spirit lights up every room—and every heart. Known for his fluffy white tail and enthusiastic bark, he’s always been full of energy and joy. But in May 2024, his life—and his family’s—took an unexpected turn when he began to limp.

Initial vet visits were inconclusive, offering few answers only hefty bills. Hawkeye’s mom followed her gut and sought a second opinion. That’s when X-rays revealed something far more serious: signs of bone erosion in his wrist. A specialist was brought in, and after several appointments, treatments, and worsening symptoms, the diagnosis was confirmed—bone cancer.

Although the cancer wasn’t aggressively spreading, the location and severity of the tumor meant that amputation was the best option to relieve Hawkeye’s pain and give him a chance at a healthy life.

Through every vet visit, through every moment of discomfort, Hawkeye never lost his joyful spirit. His tail still wags. He still barks with excitement when his loved ones walk in the door. And his family is holding on to hope that, with surgery, he’ll be able to run freely again—the way he used to when life was simpler and his body stronger.

Ever wonder what The Izzie Fund does? This. Is. It! We provide hope to those in need.  We keep families together. We keep dogs out of shelters. WE SAVE LIVES.

Will you lend a paw and help an animal in need?
