Sweet Nala found her furever home 6 years ago and she and her fur-daddy have been inseparable ever since! Nala is a large mixed breed, roughly 8 years and enjoys her daily adventures outside. She loves to go on walks and run in the fields by her home, which she would typically do every day. That was, until her fur-daddy noticed a limp that seemed to keep getting worse. After a visit to Nala’s vet, it was discovered she most likely would require surgery to get her back on her feet again and enjoy all the activities she loves most. Unable to afford the cost of the surgery, the first recommended step included crate rest and limited activity to see if it could heal on its own.
Soon, it became evident that that Nala would require the surgery as she was unable to perform her normal daily functions or bare weight on her leg. When her fur-daddy had to start carrying her to use the bathroom he knew he needed help.
“Nala’s Vet told me she is otherwise in good health and has years to live. Unable to afford the surgery, my only other option was to take her to a shelter.”
That’s when he was referred to The Izzie Fund. After completing the application and providing all the supporting documents, Nala was on her way to getting the financial and physical help she desperately needed.
PUPDATES:
After surgery, Nala had to rest for several weeks while her leg healed. Her spirits were low since she loved going on long walks. After twelve weeks, Nala has officially been cleared by her veterinarian to return to normal activity and the pup couldn’t be more excited to get back into her old walking routine!
Ever wonder what The Izzie Fund does? This. Is. It! We provide hope to those in need. We keep families together. We keep dogs out of shelters. WE SAVE LIVES.
Will you lend a paw and help an animal in need?
