Penny’s pawrents fell in love with her at first sight. They saw her picture under the Humane Society’s adoption availability and couldn’t get over her unique eyes – one brown and one blue. During their meet and greet, Penny came over and sat right down on her now fur mama’s lap and locked eyes with her, showing how much love and companionship she would offer.
Penny was adopted at two years old and has brought endless joy and tail wags to her family ever since. She was her pawrents only baby until June 2022 when she gained a human sister. Penny is the best big sister and protects her humans at all costs.
At five years young, a lump appeared on Penny’s neck. Her vet recommended monitoring it for any changes and as time progressed, they decided to biopsy it. Unfortunately the results came back as a cancerous mast cell tumor, requiring a costly surgery.

PUPDATES:
One week post surgery, Penny’s biopsy came back with a very good outcome. The vet got great margins (space between tumor and healthy tissue) which shows that the cancer is not spreading and it is not in her blood. The cancer itself is low grade and there’s a 96% chance that it will never grow back.
Next steps:
- Penny will get her stitches removed
- Penny will have a follow up with her vet in a few months to check her spot
- Penny’s family will continue to monitor her for any changes
