Piper is a ten-year-old Shetland Sheepdog who, most days, acts like he’s only four. Full of energy and joy, Piper loves to run, jump, and play. His favorite activities include fetch, tug-of-war, and—true to his herding instincts—keeping a close eye on his humans as they move about the house. Leaving the house can sometimes be a bit of a challenge with Piper’s “supervising,” but his protective nature and affectionate personality make him an irreplaceable part of their lives.
Unfortunately, not long ago, while outside on his run barking at passing cars (one of his favorite pastimes), Piper twisted the wrong way and ruptured his left cranial cruciate ligament (CCL). Thanks to the generosity of The Izzie Fund, Piper received a custom knee brace—lovingly nicknamed his “fancy footwear.”
With his new brace, Piper is slowly returning to his daily walks and once again showing the happy, playful spirit that defines him. His family is deeply grateful to The Izzie Fund for helping their loyal companion get back on his paws.
Piper will soon begin rehabilitation therapy to help strengthen his CCL and regain full use of his leg.
Ever wonder what The Izzie Fund does? This. Is. It! We provide hope to those in need. We keep families together. We keep dogs out of shelters. WE SAVE LIVES.
Will you lend a paw and help an animal in need?
