Paul (formally Polly) E Pancake is a 2 year old English Bulldog with Spina Bifida. A wheelchair is needed to maintain Paul’s mobility and enjoyment in life. Her rehab will include an exercise strength routine to build upper body strength in order to utilize her wheelchair to the fullest. In addition, Paul’s treatment will focus on front foot targeting, using a Cato board and a Propel balance pad. We are proud and honored to welcome her into The Izzie Fund!
Here’s what her mama had to say: “I was a little worried about caring for a dog with a disability. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to handle it but then, after meeting her, I realized it was something I wanted to do. She was so playful the first time that she came over to my house. Although she is paralyzed on her back legs, she’s so strong and fast with her front body efforts. She was running all over and trying to engage me in playing catch with her and after a few times, she ran over and totally pancaked onto my leg for some snuggles. Since her head is very large and squishy, when she relaxes, she kind of looks like a pancake.”

Paul E Pancake is loving life with her new found freedom thanks to The Izzie Fund! She goes out for a walk every day and even has made friends at the local dog park. Her anxious behaviors have nearly disappeared now that she is able to work out some of her bright energy. Not only is Paul E Pancake all smiles, but everyone in the neighborhood loves her and always say that seeing her rolling up in her wheelchair is the highlight of their days. She’s become a neighborhood celebrity and a little advocate for wheelchair accessibility.
